The Reclaimed Science Lab


In recent months we’ve noticed the growing trend in reusing old teak and iroko worktops, once a standard site the school science lab, they are now being lovingly re-crafted into kitchen worktops, bars and wall cladding, but what about the rest of the science lab? We’ve been tracking the progress of some recent acquisitions and adopting our customer’s ideas in how to use them.

Test tubes are making an appearance at weddings, holding beautiful floral arrangements or candles to create stunning centre pieces. They also make wonderful kitchen containers, great on a spice rack or as a creative way to store condiments.

Science apparatus have been given a second life, as eccentric focal points in creative interior design projects, vintage amp meters, microscopes and themomenters have all made been making a swift exit from the showroom of late. In terms of furniture, wonderful display cases, industrial looking filing cabinets and lamps have found alternative homes in personal, office and retail spaces. Vintage taxidermy pieces have been giving a quirky edge to traditional pub interiors.
